  4. Country Description:  Andorra is a highly developed stable democracy with a
  5. modern economy.  Tourist facilities are widely available.
  6.  
  7. Entry Requirements:  A passport is required.  Visas are not required for a
  8. tourist or business stay of up to three months.  For further information,
  9. travelers can contact either the Embassy of Spain or the Embassy of France
  10. or the nearest French or Spanish consulate in Boston, Chicago, Detroit
  11. (France only), Honolulu (France only), Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New
  12. Orleans, New York, or San Juan.  The Spanish Embassy is located at 2375
  13. Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20009, tel. (202) 728-2330.  The
  14. French Embassy is at 4101 Reservoir Road NW, Washington, D.C. 20007, tel
  15. (202) 944-6000.

  17. Medical Facilities:  Medical care is available.  U.S. medical insurance is
  18. not always valid outside the United States.  Travelers have found that in
  19. some cases, supplemental medical insurance with specific overseas coverage
  20. has proved to be useful.  Information on specific health matters is
  21. available through the Centers for Disease Control's international travelers
  22. hotline at (404) 332-4559.

  24. Crime Information:  Andorra has a low crime rate.  However, during the
  25. summer tourist season, pickpocketing, theft of unattended baggage, and theft
  26. from vehicles can occur.  The loss or theft abroad of a U.S. passport should
  27. be reported immediately to the local police and the nearest U.S. embassy or
  28. consulate.  U.S. citizens can refer to the Department of State's pamphlet "A
  29. Safe Trip Abroad" for ways to promote a more trouble free journey.  The
  30. pamphlet is available from the Superintendent of Documents, U.S. Government
  31. Printing Office, Washington, D.C. 20402.

  33. Drug Penalties:  U.S. citizens are subject to the laws of the country in
  34. which they are traveling.  Penalties for possession, use, or dealing in
  35. illegal drugs are strict, and convicted offenders can expect jail sentences
  36. and fines.

  38. Registration:  U.S. citizens who register at the U.S. Consulate General in
  39. Barcelona, Spain can obtain updated information on travel and security
  40. within Andorra.
